abstract = {Artificial Intelligence (AI) writing tools are increasingly becoming part of students’ learning and academic writing practices. Previous research shows that these tools can help students generate ideas, improve language, revise their work, and receive quick feedback. Recent research on university students has also found that AI-supported writing can improve writing fluency, accuracy, and vocabulary. For example, a 2025 study of IT students learning Russian as a second language reported a 23% increase in essay length, a 31% reduction in language errors, and an improvement in lexical diversity after using AI writing tools with guided learning activities. The study also found that students considered AI useful for improving writing clarity and revision, while concerns about over-reliance and ethical use were also reported. Importantly, 70% of students showed greater awareness of authorship, transparency, and academic integrity. These findings suggest that AI writing tools can support learning when they are used with proper guidance rather than replacing students’ own efforts. This review paper examines how AI writing tools are changing student learning habits, particularly in writing, information searching, revision, independent learning, and engagement. It also discusses the benefits, challenges, ethical concerns, and possible effects of excessive dependence on AI. Overall, previous research suggests that responsible and guided use of AI can support students’ learning while maintaining critical thinking, creativity, and academic integrity.},
