Abstract
Depletion of fossils fuels and environmental degradation have prompted researchers throughout the world to search for a suitable alternative fuel for internal combustion engine. In this study, acetylene gas has been considered as an alternative fuel for spark ignition engine, which has excellent combustion properties. The experimental investigation has been carried out on a single cylinder, spark ignition and air- cooled engine run in dual fuel mode with acetylene as primary fuel and petrol inducted as secondary fuel. Engine being run at various speeds and the perfect volumetric blending mixture ratio of acetylene and petrol for smooth functioning of a Spark ignition petrol engine, problems like knocking and pre- ignition eliminated.
