In order to promote better results, this abstract highlights important factors and suggestions for enhancing the nutritional treatment given to patients after abdominal surgery. Summary- Abdominal surgeries cover a vast varieties of surgical procedures associated with gastrointestinal tract. To focus on improving post-operative outcomes, nutritional assistance can prove a viable option. Important elements include personalized hydration control, focusing on protein intake for tissue regeneration, and starting early enteral nutrition (EEN) within 24 to 48 hours after surgery. Preoperative nutritional examination aids in overall optimization by identifying and correcting deficits. Individualized loading plans for carbohydrates and a cautious reintroduction of fibers support the health of the gastrointestinal tract and glycogen reserves. Micronutrient supplementation improves immune system performance and wound healing, particularly in situations where there were preoperative deficits. Conclusion- Review stated that some study highlights the promising outcomes of the nutritional assistance of different types. But some studies also highlighted low efficacy of the same. The sample size and geographical reach needs to be enhanced so that a correlation can be established concretely.}, keywords = {Abdominal surgeries, EEN, ESPEN, ERAS, GI surgeries, Micronutrients.}, month = {October}, }
