Optimization study for Waterproof breathable Polyester fabric

  • Polyester fabric was coated with polyurethane (PU) formulation along with fluorine based water repellentcompound for making waterproof breathable fabric. The water repellent properties of the coated fabrics wereevaluated by measuring water vapor permeability, spray test,contact angle, hydrostatic pressure and rain test.Physical characteristics of the coated fabrics such as mechanical strength, stiffness and crease recovery were also analyzed. The performance and durability of waterproof breathable fabric were also tested for wash fastness and abrasion resistance. The coated samples exhibited satisfactory performance properties.
