        abstract = {Librarian is a person who charges to assist the users of a library. For the human existence from ancient to modern era, research has developed in many ways. To preserve the results of the research, we were used so many tools and devices like stones, sculpture, copper plates, palm leaves, clay tablets and finally papers. Due to the technology development and information explosion in all the subjects of the universe of knowledge, handling the data shall become frenetic to the people. In that particular juncture, the use of department of library science and the role of librarians are became crucial. Most of the managements of the educational institutions are not interested to develop the libraries and degrading the librarian profession and libraries comparing with the subjects like computer science engineering/ IT. The governments are also ignoring the libraries particularly in the universities and research centres in the structure of recruitments, training and development of library professionals to meet the present day’s needs and requirements of the users. This article covers the need and role of libraries and librarians in the academic success of the educational institutions with all the eligibilities in the digital age.},
