        abstract = {Ground water is the major sources of drinking and domestic purposes in Karur district. Karur is one of the most important industries cities in Tamilnadu. Nowadays ground water contamination occurs rapidly due to increasing the industrial zones and their effluent reached the ground water. In this research, ground water samples were taken from 10 places in Karur district. The chosen places are selected on the basis of their location like near industrial zones. The physico-chemical characteristics like pH, Electrical conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Hardness (TH), Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Sodium (Na) and Potassium (K)  of ground water were determined in laboratory. The test results were compared with standards of WHO.},
