  • Abstract:
  • This study examines the impact of maritime pollutants on India's shipping industry, with a focus on identifying key pollutants and assessing their environmental effects. The research analyses the relationship between the number of ships, gross tonnage, deadweight, and the volume of pollutants, including gross carbon emissions, CO2, and diesel oil, released into the environment. Additionally, it explores how larger vessels disproportionately contribute to higher pollutant emissions, particularly in terms of gross carbon emissions, CO2, and diesel oil. The findings offer crucial insights into the environmental challenges confronting the maritime shipping industry and present strategic recommendations to mitigate its ecological impact.
