  • Abstract:
  • Diabetes mellitus is a prevalent chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels, resulting from inadequate insulin production or ineffective utilization of insulin. This abstract provides a concise overview of diabetes mellitus, focusing on its types, causes, impact, and management strategies. The two primary types of diabetes mellitus are type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes stems from autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells, leading to insulin deficiency, while type 2 diabetes involves insulin resistance and relative insulin insufficiency. Other types include gestational diabetes and rare forms like monogenic and secondary diabetes.
