Rasayana may be employed for fulfilling both of them. Rasayana are the ways of attaining excellent Ras i.e., Attains longevity, memory, intelligence, freedom from disorders, youthful age, excellence of luster, complexion and voice, ultimate strength of physique and sense organs, wisdom and successful words and brilliance. Rasayana also called a Rejuvenation therapy is one considered under Ashtang Ayurveda. Rasayana drugs are those which are capable of importing superior Rasas and Dhatus to the body and toning up the system of healthy persons. Rasayana aids in increasing natural immunity enhancing general wellbeing, improving the functioning of all the fundamentals organs of the body and keep the signs of early ageing at bay. Moreover, it involves two opposite processes that simultaneously come into operation i.e., growth and atrophy. Ageing represents structural and functional changes of an organism over its entire life span.
India is the treasure trove of Ancient medical knowledge that is delineated in Ayurveda. Ayurveda uses all naturally occurring drugs which could be of animal, herbal, mineral and metallic preparations for treating diseases.
In all the literatures of Rasa-shastra, the word Rasayana has been used in two senses, one for medicine as a whole for example “Kupipakva Rasayana” and for whole group of medicines having mercury or other minerals in them. Others have used this word for “Rejuvenation” while describing the properties of a substance or in specific chapters entitled Rasayana. So going through Rasa-shastra texts, we find an extensive description of Rasayana with many herbo-mineral combinations.},
