  • Abstract:
  • Post-independence India saw a renewed focus on the education of tribal communities as part of the national strategy to uplift marginalized groups and integrate them into mainstream society. This paper examines the educational status of tribes in India in the post-independence period, focusing on policies, initiatives, and challenges faced by these communities. The paper discusses the implementation of various government schemes aimed at increasing literacy rates and improving access to education and the socio-economic barriers that hinder educational progress, and the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in supplementing government efforts. Utilising the opportunity of policy for progress and development of the tribes. Despite improvements, tribal education remains fraught with challenges such as poor infrastructure, language barriers, and discrimination. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving the educational landscape for tribes in India, emphasizing the need for a more culturally inclusive approach, better infrastructure, and sustained government support.
