abstract = {The recovery of latent fingerprints from currency notes plays a crucial role in forensic investigations, particularly in cases involving financial crimes such as theft, bribery, fraud, and illegal transactions. Currency notes are among the most frequently handled objects in daily life, making them potential carriers of valuable forensic evidence. However, their porous nature, primarily composed of cotton-based paper, presents significant challenges in fingerprint detection and preservation. This study focuses on the development and comparison of latent fingerprints on currency notes using both chemical reagents and physical fingerprint powders. Chemical methods such as ninhydrin, iodine fuming, silver nitrate, potassium dichromate, and lawsone were evaluated for their interaction with amino acids, salts, and other components present in sweat residues. Similarly, physical methods involving black powder, fluorescent powders, and silver powder were assessed for their ability to adhere to moisture and oily residues. The results indicate that ninhydrin provides the most effective chemical development, producing clear and permanent ridge details, while fluorescent powders offer superior visualization under ultraviolet light. The study highlights the importance of selecting appropriate techniques based on surface characteristics and emphasizes the combined use of methods to enhance fingerprint recovery.},
