        abstract = {Education is universally recognized as a powerful instrument of social change and modernization. Modernization refers to a multidimensional process involving economic development, technological advancement, social mobility, cultural transformation, democratic values and the emergence of rational and scientific worldviews. In the contemporary era, modernization is inseparably linked with the development of education, as education accelerates economic growth, social transformation, technological progress, and democratic participation. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between education and modernization. It examines the historical evolution of education, conceptual foundations of modernization, economic and social implications, the role of technology, policy perspectives with special reference to India, challenges faced by education systems, and future directions. Drawing upon classical and contemporary theories, as well as global and national policy frameworks, the paper argues that education functions both as a catalyst and an outcome of modernization. The study concludes that inclusive, equitable, and quality education is indispensable for sustainable, inclusive, and human-centered modernization in the twenty first century.},
