Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine whether brick fragments might be used in place of fine aggregate in concrete. Brick rubble came from dismantled masonry walls that were crushed in a lab and added as a partial replacement for fine aggregate. Comparisons between the control and four replacement levels, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, were made. Concrete testing revealed that the mechanical characteristics (compressive strength test) of concrete including brick debris and concrete without ground brick were very equivalent.
