Abstract
Media summarization has emerged as a critical research area in recent years, driven by the exponential growth of digital content across various platforms, including documents and YouTube videos. This review paper explores the evolving landscape of media summarization techniques with a specific focus on the integration of hybrid summarization approaches. The synergy of these hybrid approaches leverages the advantages of both extractive and abstractive summarization techniques, resulting in improved quality and coherence of the generated summaries. The paper conducts a thorough examination of cutting-edge algorithms, methodologies, and tools employed in media summarization, shedding light on the primary challenges confronting the field. It also delves into the various applications and domains where media summarization plays a pivotal role, including information retrieval, content recommendation, and data analysis. Furthermore, this review paper discusses the evaluation metrics commonly employed to assess the performance of media summarization systems, emphasizing the need for standardized evaluation criteria to ensure fair comparisons and advancements in the field.
