They are mainly flexural members and usually provided in high rise buildings to avoid the total collapse of the high rise buildings under seismic forces. In residential construction, shear walls are straight external walls that typically form a C-shape,L-shape,H-shape, box shape or wall shape which provides all of the lateral support for the building. When shear walls are designed and constructed properly, and they will have the strength and stiffness to resist horizontal forces. The research aims to study the optimum shape of shear walls in tall building with outrigger. The outrigger-braced high-rise shear wall consists of a centrally located core wall with two equal-length trusses positioned at top and mid- height of the structure. In this study a high rise T-shaped 30 storied building with different shape of shear wall and outrigger is considered. The high rise building is analyzed for its storey drift, lateral displacement, base shear and overturning moments using ETABS 2015 software.The main objective of this study is to find the optimum shape of shear wall with outrigger which provide effective resistant to seismic effects.}, keywords = {Outrigger,Response Spectrum Method ,Shear wall,Lateral Displacement,Storey Drift,Storey Shear}, month = {}, }
