abstract = {This study examines the rise of India’s gig economy and its impact on employment. It explores how digital platforms have created flexible, technology-driven work opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds. Based on primary survey data and secondary sources like NITI Aayog and ILO reports, the study analyse the awareness, benefits, and challenges of gig work. The findings show that while gig work offers flexibility, independence, and income opportunities, it also involves issues such as job insecurity, irregular earnings, and lack of social security. The study concludes that the gig economy has strong potential to reduce unemployment, especially among youth, but requires effective policies to ensure fair pay, worker protection, and sustainable growth.},
