abstract = {The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the language classroom has initiated a paradigm shift from traditional rule-based, linear instruction to a dynamic model of Communicative Competence. While conventional pedagogy often emphasizes the rote memorization of syntax and morphological structures, Generative AI (GenAI) offers a sophisticated platform for real-time, interactive language practice. This paper investigates the utility of AI tools as ‘Linguistic Scaffolding,’ providing learners with personalized input, instant phonetic feedback, and simulated immersion environments. By analysing AI’s pivotal role in reducing ‘Language Anxiety’ and supporting translingual pedagogy—wherein learners bridge their mother tongue with a second language—this study proposes a robust framework for the modern language laboratory. Furthermore, it explores the educator's transition from a primary lecturer to a curator of AI-driven dialogues that accommodate diverse learning velocities. Ultimately, the paper argues that AI-assisted language learning (AALL) aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) by promoting multilingualism and preparing Indian students for a competitive, globalized workforce.},
