abstract = {Community festivals have been an important part of the cultural and social life of Andhra villages since ancient times. These festivals reflect the traditions, beliefs, customs, and collective values of rural communities. Apart from their religious significance, community festivals serve as important social institutions that promote unity, cooperation, and social harmony among villagers. The present study examines the historical development of community festivals and analyses their role in fostering social integration in Andhra villages. The study is based on historical and descriptive methods and utilises information collected from books, research articles, government reports, and related literature. It explores the evolution of major village festivals such as Sankranti, Ugadi, Dasara, Deepavali, Gramadevata Jataras, temple festivals, and other community celebrations. The study also examines how these festivals encourage collective participation, strengthen interpersonal relationships, preserve cultural heritage, and promote communal harmony among different social groups. The findings reveal that community festivals have historically functioned as powerful instruments of social integration by bringing together people irrespective of caste, occupation, economic status, or religious background. They play a crucial role in preserving folk traditions, cultural practices, and local identities while fostering cooperation and a sense of belonging among villagers. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including urbanisation, migration, commercialisation, changing lifestyles, and declining participation in traditional cultural activities. The study concludes that despite the pressures of modernisation, community festivals continue to remain significant centres of cultural preservation and social cohesion in Andhra villages. Their protection and promotion are essential for sustaining rural cultural heritage, strengthening community relationships, and ensuring social integration for future generations.},
